AWOL Kyzafi

I got bored of both STO and FE, and after a break I'm not that interested in returning to either. So likely cancelling subs. I am still a forum troll and am keeping my eye on SWToR (count me in for that).

Damn and I just resubbed to

Damn and I just resubbed to FE.*shrugs*Oh well.

I wasn't too sold on SWTOR until the last combat video someone posted here. That looked as close to AoC graphics and combat than anything else has.

You'll be fine in FE, there

You'll be fine in FE, there is a huge Invicta gang, lots of activity. The game seems well supported, just doesn't keep me engaged. STO was too much rinse and repeat. I made it all the way to Admiral, and the content was exactly the same. And there weren't enough Klingons in the PvP que, so couldn't do much of that. They need more variety in STO.

I have hopes for SWTOR, I'd like to see more of the non-combat content and how much sand box vs. linear there is going to be.

That's the thing about SWtOR

That's the thing about SWtOR I didn't like... from at least what i could tell from vids i've seen... It seemed a bit linear...  I'd imagine It has large open cities but you head out on very linear story driven missions.  Looks like a mix of single play TOR and Guild Wars.  imo.

... but then again i haven't looked at much new material released about it lately.

I worry about the linear

I worry about the linear thing too as kotor (as much as I like it) isn't a big open world like say Oblivion is. The devs however has said in multiple interviews that all the planets are huge and everyone will be amazed at how open the world is. Here is a good dev interview to check out.

Also a thing to keep in mind

Also a thing to keep in mind is, this game isn't finished yet. They haven't even opened the beta tests yet as far as i know, so there's still a lot that can happen.

Also they just added Hoth on the lists of planets we get to explore, the link to the thread explaining it is here http://www.swtor.com/news/news-article/20100521_003

Similar situation here

Similar situation here myself.  FE wasn't so much boring for me as time consuming.  Work has me going most of the time, great and new stuff that's fun but time consuming.  Can't really do the huge travel times in FE just to get somewhere.

SWTOR and World of Darkness Online are the next two big things on my radar but they are way off still.  Hopefully life will have calmed down a bit by then.  I am considering doing a study on how academic and reference material is used in games so maybe I can make more time someday.

Miss everyone.

Heh, I was in the same boat

Heh, I was in the same boat as you. I loved the game, but was in a very hectic stage (Things have evened out now, but still pretty busy.) and I sensed from the start the amount of time consumption required for the game. Personally, I didn't feel like signing my soul away to another time-heavy MMO.. So I gave up within the first month, already had boughten on the hook of the game, too, but just had to quit. Needed more of a light-hearted game, to drop and go and just as easily pick up.

But anyway!.. How have you been, Dan? Ain't heard from you in a bit.

FE is very time consuming.

FE is very time consuming.  It was advertised as a pick-it-up drop-and-go game when Lee Hammock would talk about it.. but it's really very much not.

And i've been well, Touren... I actually had to take a break from FE for about a month.  FE eats your soul.  Just check out the Shout Box... me and Soyala can't wait to get home to play the damn game.

Haha, well.. I actually meant

Haha, well.. I actually meant Streamweaver when I said Dan. Tongue out But it is good to hear that you're doing alright, too. I'm still used to calling Streamweaver 'dan' because of his character back in AoC called, "Halfdan" Innocent

Hey there.   Things are great

Hey there.   Things are great overall.  We were in a hard push to meet the launch of the Rushdie stuff.  If any of you are on my twitter and such I've been crowing about it there a bit but it's been a lot of fun blazing new territory.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/16/books/16archive.html

We're starting on the next phase of that project as well as some poets that have contrubted thier systems.  Many other things going on as well it's all great fun. I'm hoping to find some time to either publish a paper (more likely) or even a book (much less likely) on how Reference Materials, real world data or academic materials are used in gaming.

Who knows though.

I've mostly been playing single player RPGs lately and after playing Assassins Creed II, Mass Effect 2 and Batman Arkham Asylum I have some thoughts I should put down somewhere on the leaps MMOs need to make.

What have you been up to?

Miss playing with you all and hope you're well.

Sounds like a very

Sounds like a very interesting project, Dan.

And the paper would be good too. I catalogued what I'd been using as reference materials once.... a lot. From Shakespeare and pictures of Viking treasure hoards to Egyptian Dance music and modern economic scams. Fun!

FE can be dipped into and played for a bit at a time, just less likely to be able to play with others at the moment as we are scattered, though there's always clanchat to keep in touch.

A limited form of instant travel (1 point per sector) is on the way, fairly soon.

Very neat article! Sounds

Very neat article! Sounds interesting. But it's good to hear you're doing ok. I feel you on the Single-player games, knocked quiet a few of them off my list while on my leave of absence from FE. As for myself, been doing pretty good. Got a new job, which is going great, and things seem to be looking up!

Now hopefully someday soon we'll all get to reunite in another MMO.. (SWTOR, maybe? Innocent)

beta has not started though I

beta has not started though I imagine it will soon. Would'nt suprise me if Bioware decided to open beta right alongside of WoW's Cataclysm launch (more then likely in Oct). There is a lot of stuff about swtor that will probably be revealed at E3 on June 14th.

This is my favorite swtor fan site. Lots of good information on this site.
